This device is a game changer. It has allowed me to fully include students with special needs in guitar instruction. Most students are not only participating, but are achieving success in areas that would have been near impossible before
I got the product! AND I LOVE IT!! I have literally had EVERY student try it (with tons of different modifications, of course). All of my students are on the autism spectrum and some are incredibly severe, but each of them have been successful with guitar in some capacity thanks to ChordBuddy. Thank you so much, Elena for presenting about this product. I don’t think I have ever seen my students enjoy music quiet as much as they do right now! 🙂
By the way, we LOVE the system! Perfect for our students and color matching. Students are feeling successful and the staff members enjoy working with them.”
The ChordBuddy produces instant excitement! It bring success in seconds not weeks or months! All of us can remember singing into our hairbrush and hearing wild applause. Today’s students will remember being a rock star with their ChordBuddy!
I am excited about ChordBuddy because it fills that void that I have had for inquiries from parents ofnpotential students over the past several years that I have not been able to fill. They are asking for guitar lessons for their young children ages 5 through 10, which is when I recommend them starting due to hand and finger size and growth. ChordBuddy is genius because it makes it so easy to have those young kids actually play a guitar with normal strings and strum their favorite songs! The device might be challenging at first to use for them (finger strength), but the possibilities are plentiful with the chord choices that are used with the device. There are so many great songs that use the G, Em C and D chords that ChordBuddy uses, which opens up so many fun times that these kids are now going to have strumming their guitar and playing their favorite songs!I can only imagine the possibilities that this device can open up for my studio – group teaching and many more younger private students!
The chord buddy has allowed the guitar to be more accessible to my students
A brief thought on your use of ChordBuddy in the classroom, what it gives to your students, benefits of catering the needs to all learners, anything you can mention would be outstanding. Through a collaborative effort between myself (Special EducationTeacher for students with Moderate to Severe Disabilities) and the music (guitar) teacher here at the Seoul American High School we have created a “reverse inclusion class”. For the first semester of school the general education students in the guitar class learn to play the guitar – through regular guitar class. Then during second semester those students come into our SPED classroom and teach our students how to play the guitar using the guitar buddy. The benefits of using the ChordBuddy are: Students from the general education class learn compassion and empathy as well as helping out those with special needs learn to play an instrument. The students with special needs learn confidence in playing an instrument and they also make new friendships. The ChordBuddy has reduced the stigmatism of going to the “SPED” room that often occurs in schools. Even when we are not practicing the ChordBuddy, the general education students will come by to see our students with special needs. In the Spring when we have our “ChordBuddy” Concert we invite various classes to come up to the Library (Information Center) and hear our concert. All students who participated as a Buddy along with our Students in SPED play songs together (following along with the CD and Travis Perry)…just love the accent! We are in our second year collaborating and everyone involved from students to teacher to administration all love the ChordBuddy!
